~~~ Defending the Faith ~~~

Apologetics is a word often confused with our English word, apology. But it's meaning is rooted in the Greek word, apología, which means; defense. The Greek term comes from words meaning out of logic or reason, and refers to a reasoned defense usually given in a court of law.

Christian apologetics doesn't mean we are to be sorry for our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but rather giving a reasoned defense of our faith against arguments or objections. As Christians, it is our duty to defend our faith as the following verses show:

Now more than ever before in our history, we need to defend our faith. Since the late 1700's, there has been a concerted effort by satan to destroy faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at it's roots, that is in the book of Genesis. Why? Because if he (satan) can destroy the foundation of our faith revealed to us in Genesis (creation of all things, origin of man, man's fall into sin and rebellion, man's need for redemption, etc.), then he doesn't have to disprove the rest of God's Word, including our need for redemption found only in faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ. If we can't trust the beginning, we can't trust the rest!

"If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalms 11:3)

In 1859, Charles Darwin published his book, "On the Origin of Species", which has much to do with the current decline of the morals in our society. Evolution teaches that we are all products of chance happenings ('molecules to man', 'particles-to-people' or 'goo to you') over billions of years. It is taught as fact in our public (government) schools, thus society has accepted it as so. It has led humanity down the slippery slope of moral decline resulting in abortion, crime, child abuse, drug use, homosexuality, promiscuity, racial prejudice, war, etc. These are just symptoms of the underlying cause: Unbelief in an Almighty Creator God.
